Qualifications Background Investigations

Many candidates inflate their qualifications to be more appealing to prospective employers. In fact, more applicants lie about their education and employment experience than lie about their criminal history.

Verifying the accuracy of applicants’ claims about their experience, qualifications, and past performance are critical to evaluating their fit for a position.

Verifying their claims are also integral to establishing applicants’ honesty and integrity. If they lie to you walking in the door as an applicant, can you be surprised if their behavior doesn’t change as an employee?

Qualifications Investigations can include

1. Standard Driving History
This is the state’s official record of your applicant’s driving record, typically including accidents and citations in the last three to five years. Different states provide different kinds of information and records for different lengths of time.

2. Employment Verification
We will diligently attempt to verify directly with the Human Resources department or other authorized source all employment claims made by your applicant for the past ten years.

3. Education Verification
We will attempt to verify college, university, or trade school accomplishments asserted by your applicant, watching out for unaccredited institutions and degree mills.

4. License and Certification Verification
We will attempt to verify all license or certification claims made by your applicant.

5. USA PATRIOT Act and Financial Compliance Search
This regularly updated database search includes a search for enforcement actions and orders by dozens of regulatory institutions, including the System for Award Management (SAM – previously called EPLS), which lists individuals prohibited from participating in a variety of government procurement programs; the Office of Foreign Asset Control’s (OFAC) Specially Designated Nationals list of individuals tied to terrorism and other bad acts; as well as regulated medical, financial, and international transactions.

6. County Civil Litigation
This is a search for civil litigation in the counties associated with your applicant in the last ten years. Each search will cover a minimum of ten years of plaintiff and defendant records in that county.

7. Federal Civil Litigation
This review of civil litigation in federal districts associated with your applicant will identify federal lawsuits and bankruptcies associated with your candidate. Each search will cover a minimum of ten years of plaintiff and defendant records in that jurisdiction.

8. Healthcare Sanctions Search
Employers receiving state or federal funds are prohibited from employing individuals listed as having participated in healthcare fraud or other kinds of disqualifying activities. Our expansive database search includes searches of dozens of federal and state exclusion lists, including these most-requested items:

State Healthcare Fraud Exclusions List
The Texas Health & Human Services Commission Office of Inspector General (OIG)’s Exclusions List (or equivalent lists for residents of other states).
